With over a decade of experience in day-of-show operations for Variety Attractions, Melissa Wolken’s journey to entertainment consulting has been multifaceted. Immersing herself in the fair world from an early age as a 4H member and later as a Great Jones County Fair board member and assistant production/stage manager, Melissa brings a firsthand perspective. She holds a BA in Political Science with a minor in Sociology from the University of Iowa and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Sierra Nevada College. Additionally, her role as a writer and content specialist for a music, art, and dance school significantly contributes to her diverse skill set, encompassing marketing and communication. From these experiences to various roles in hospitality, event planning, and entrepreneurship, she skillfully combines this experiential knowledge with her education, offering a comprehensive understanding of fairs, festivals, and events.
Rooted in Iowa, Melissa draws on her family farming background and travel experience to infuse her work with an authentic connection to local communities. She dreams of her “A Star is Born” moment where an artist brings her on stage to sing with them, and she enjoys travel, horseback riding, hiking, and yoga. Melissa promises a unique blend of authenticity and dedication when connecting people in the dynamic world of entertainment consulting, providing support at every stage of the process.
